Coverage, documents
& claims
Know exactly what's covered before you hit the road. Here's how insurance works for every Sprinter rental — from pickup to claims resolution.
What's covered on the road
All rentals include baseline protection through Turo. You can add more coverage at checkout or rely on your own policy — just make sure you're covered before departure.
Turo Liability Coverage
Every booking through our Turo platform includes built-in liability coverage that meets or exceeds state minimums. Coverage is active from pickup to return.
Physical Damage Protection
Turo offers optional physical damage protection plans (Premier, Standard, Minimum). You choose your level at checkout — we recommend at least Standard for a van this size.
Your Personal Auto Insurance
Many personal auto policies extend to rental vehicles. Call your provider before your trip to confirm coverage limits for large passenger vans.
Credit Card Coverage
Some premium credit cards offer rental vehicle protection when you pay with that card. Check with your issuer — coverage often excludes commercial platforms like Turo.
Required documents
Have these ready at pickup and you'll be on the road in minutes. We verify everything at the lot — no surprises, no delays.
Valid Driver's License
All drivers must present a current, valid U.S. or international driver's license at pickup. The license must be in good standing with no suspensions.
Turo-Verified Profile
Your Turo account must be fully verified with a confirmed phone number, email, and accepted payment method before the booking starts.
Proof of Insurance (Optional)
If you decline Turo's physical damage protection, bring proof of your personal auto policy and any credit card coverage. We'll keep a copy on file.
How claims work
Accidents are rare, but if something goes wrong, here's the exact process — step by step, no guesswork.
- 01
Report Immediately
In the event of damage, theft, or an accident, call Turo support at 1-866-735-2901 and notify us directly at (479) 531-0977 within 24 hours.
- 02
Document Everything
Take clear photos of the damage, surrounding area, and any other vehicles involved. Save police reports, witness info, and any third-party insurance details.
- 03
Return the Vehicle
Bring the van back to our Rogers HQ at the scheduled return time (or as soon as safely possible after an incident). Do not attempt repairs yourself.
- 04
Turo Investigates
Turo's claims team reviews the documentation, determines fault, and coordinates with insurance providers. Most claims are resolved within 5–10 business days.
